This statuette in ivory is made in the first half of the 17th century, probably in Germany, although the classicizing features may imply an Italian origin. It represents a naked boy holding a fish with both arms over his left shoulder. He is standing on a rocky base. Perhaps it once formed the knop of the lid of a tankard or similar vessel.
