This ivory panel was made in ca. 1750 in France, probably Dieppe. The cover is likely to represent Psyche kneeling before Venus, who is seated in a chair and holds a wand in her right hand. The panel was probably once the cover of a snuff box.

Cover of a snuff box carved with a mythological subject. A female figure, possibly Psyche, kneels before Venus (?), who is seated in a chair and holds a wand in her right hand, against a background of three trees. The border is moulded, and decorated with shells at each of the four corners.
