Embossed gilt leather panel, with a symmetrical Louis XIV pattern which consists of lattice-work, a shell, floral decoration and two birds eating berries. The gilded pattern on a blue, dark-green and brown ground.

Rectangular, stamped with a design in Louis XIV style, centreing on a shaped panel, enclosing a trellised plinth supporting a fan shape, flanked by two birds, the spandrels outside the panel with motifs of formal foliage, all decorated in polychrome and varnished silver foil. French c.1855. Part of a series (with 3692 to4-1856) showing stages in the production of such panels
