Mirror, composed on a single portrait mirror plate with soft hand cut bevel on all sides. The main plate is surrounded by a narrow divider of scalloped glass and framed by 8 smaller bevelled mirror plates with decorative shaped glass overlays. The whole is bordered by narrow scalloped slips and surmounted by a shaped cresting which, when complete, was most likely made up of 3 plates with narrow bevels on all edges.

Physical description
Mirror, composed on a single portrait mirror plate with soft hand cut bevel on all sides. The main plate is surrounded by a narrow divider of scalloped glass and framed by 8 smaller bevelled mirror plates with decorative shaped glass overlays. 'Mirror, with glass border, framed on three sides: with ornament for top. (With loose pieces of mirror)''. 'Side mirror cracked: no glass on top ornament'. [A separate receipt 29/8/1918 records 'Loose pieces of Mirror']

Letter to the Duke from Cecil Harcourt Smith, 10/7/1918 makes it clear that the items (W.26 to 34-1918, described as coming 'from Boughton' were in a somewhat deteriorated state: '...I have very little doubt that our skilled repairers will be able to treat them in such a way that they will be extremely valuable to our students here..I expect the necessary work for the furniture will occupy a considerable time...'
