Cassone of polished walnut or 'chestnut' wood, inlaid with marquetry: terminal figures at the corners, in the center a shield of arms in relief, possibly those of Oreosti of Bologna and Gherardeschi of Bologna:
1st and 4th, an arm draped holding a bunch of flowers.
2nd and 3rd, paley of five or and azure.
The first coat has the arm and band reversed on the fourth quarter.

M The early register suggests that the arms are of the family of Mengolini of Faenza, and that the scene represented is of the infant God of Marriage in a litter accompanied by Cupids. |
