‘Serial Dialogue in Fifteen Parts’
2007
The manipulation of colour and light is a central
concern for Martin Smith. Rather than working
within the confines of a single form, he has here
moved to an architectural scale. Fifteen panels,
partly covered in platinum leaf, softly reflect the
light. Their pattern of grooves was based on the
play of light on the walls of his studio.
Made in London
Earthenware, moulded and polished,
with platinum leaf
Museum no. C.20:1 to 15-2008
