Linen border for an altar frontal of lacis or darned netting in linen thread. A row of oblong compartments, each containing a lozenge which encloses the letter 'H' surmounted by a cross; in the outer angles are flowering plants, birds and beasts, and above and below is a row of animals. These compartments are separated by broad stripes containing large double-headed eagles, smaller birds, and symmetrical plants. There is a narrow linen fringe along the bottom.

Physical description
Linen border for an altar frontal of lacis or darned netting in linen thread. A row of oblong compartments, each containing a lozenge which encloses the letter 'H' surmounted by a cross; in the outer angles are flowering plants, birds and beasts, and above and below is a row of animals. From the mountains in the neighbourhood of Como.
Acquired as one piece, but had then cut into two pieces in 1909.
