Narrow border of Mechlin bobbin lace. With a 'fond de glace' ground and a clothwork pattern outlined with gimp and simple fillings of the honeycomb type. The outer edge is patterned with leaf shapes and ovals. At 5.5 inch intervals, a spring extends to the centre of the border, and half way between the springs is a large half leaf which forms a whole leaf within a medallion when the border is joined to a parallel piece.
