Border of needle lace flounce of point d'Alençon decorated with an open design of curving plant forms rising diagonally from large rocaille motifs. A continuous edging of plant forms decorates the lower edge. The patterned areas are edged with button-hole stitch worked over a hair and are decorated with some fancy filling stitches. The réseau is a single-looped mesh, worked from side to side across the vertical width of the flounce.
