ca. 1899 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Wpven furnishing textile sample with a dark, turquoise blue background with a large pattern of sandy coloured flowers and buds, narrow curling stems and pale green jagged leaved curling to expose cream-coloured undersides. The fabric is woven in coloured wools and thin cotton threads. The pattern is largely rendered by the warp which has been printed prior to weaving, thus producing very subtle gradations of colour and tone. The sample does not contain a full repeat.
The left side has a 1/2" selvedgem all other sides have been machine sewn with blanket stitching in brown wool. Four metal rings are inset along the top.
A label is attached on the lower right hand corner, inscribed '117AJ'.
