Border of Alençon needle lace. Worked with two sizes of looped net along the length of the border. The mesh used along the narrow edging is finer than that in the centre. The edge is decorated with two lines of loops between which is a serpentine line broken at intervals by circular motifs. A zig-zag line of small linked leaves extends into the centre of the border from the upper edge. A second broken zig-zag of detached leaves runs above this to form a diamond-shaped pattern.
