Plate of hard-paste porcelain. Circular with wavy edge. Relief-moulded with two swans amidst rushes, on a spirally fluted ground in sea-shell manner, above them flies a heron, whilst a second stands on the left. The rim, painted in enamel colours and gold with the arms of Brühl impaling Kolowrat, for Count Heinrich Brühl and his wife, together with sprigs and isolated flowers in the oriental manner. Round the edge, a dentil border in gold.

Plate from the 'Swan Service', hard-paste porcelain with relief-moulded decoration, painted in enamels and gilt, modelled by J. Kändler and J. Eberlein, made by the Meissen porcelain factory, Germany, 1737-1741.
Physical description
Plate of hard-paste porcelain. Circular with wavy edge. Relief-moulded with two swans amidst rushes, on a spirally fluted ground in sea-shell manner, above them flies a heron, whilst a second stands on the left. The rim, painted in enamel colours and gold with the arms of Brühl impaling Kolowrat, for Count Heinrich Brühl and his wife, together with sprigs and isolated flowers in the oriental manner. Object history
From the 'Swan Service'. It was sold at Sotheby's, 20th March 1956, Lot 33.
Production
Attribution from the manuscript catalogue dates from about 1970 and was compiled by William Hutton of the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio.
