Bowl, earthenware, from a smallish ring foot the sides flare gently out and up, and a steeply articulated rim, marked by an internal ridge and a break in the outside contour flares up more sharply.A red earthenware body is covered with a white slip. The outside has a series of turned rings and is covered with an opaque green glaze. The interior is covered with a pale transparent green glaze. The interior decoration consists of on the rim, a band of criss-cross motifs covered down to the brown clay and in the centre a series of stylized birds round a central rosette. The piece was fired upsidedown on a tripod and drips of glaze stand proud from the rim.

Red earthenware covered with a white slip and with incised decoration of birds. The whole covered with a green glaze. Byzantine, possibly Corinth, 13th century.
