(30 June 1920) Letter from van Papendrecht to Rackham:
In answer to your second demand I can tell you that the two mediaeval tiles I sent you this last winter, formerly sat in a floor of an old cloister in the city of Gorinchem...Holland, so told me the antique dealer in Dordrecht who was the last owner before me.
Historical context
Eleonore Landgraf (see Refs) records an identical tile with an unknown provenance but attributed to possibly Aachen and possibly second half of 15th century.
