'Day' is symbolised by the figure of a woman holding a distaff. She wears a long yellow dress and cloak and stands before a yellow coloured wall. Beyond this is a tower of the same colour with a sundial pointing to 10 o'clock. Inscribed beneath this is 'Shadows we are and like shadows depart'. In the foreground is a medley of red, yellow, and green toned plants and grass.
