Chiselled with the heraldic arms of France and the combined monogram of Henri II of France (1547-59) and Diane de Poitiers, his mistress. The lid has been partly restored. An identical plate is in the Musee de Secq de Tournelles, Rouen, and possibly comes from the same building.(07/1994) |
