Annie Wants her Stripes

Board Game Sheet on Box
1940-1945 (published)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The First and Second World Wars generated a lot of games. Some of them were meant to be fun, while others had an educational purpose. This is a playing sheet published by the magazine Woman. It was intended as a light-hearted game for women to play. It is a simple race game with help and hindrance along the way. It also reflects the fact that women were very much involved in the war effort during the Second World War. The sheet has been pasted onto the lid of a toy box that may originally have contained a set of Meccano.
