The original design (See; Entwisle, E. A. A Literary History of Wallpaper. London, 1960. pl 92) is inscribed Design for flock wallpaper Morris & Company and bears a pen note: Their Majesties prefer this design with the diamonds as big again ... the design to be in flock (not coloured).
