Production
Cf. P. Hollister, The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights, New York 1969, p. 20, fig 5 shows similar piece in the Metropolitain Museum, Cf. also for shape: G. Sarpellon, Miniature di vetro murrine 1838-1924, Venice 1990, p. 59, nrs. 547 & 548: Giovanni Battista Franchini. The blade and tines are early 18th century, A. North suggested the blade was probably Solingen, Germany.
