This bronze must have formed part of a large and decorative surround, perhaps flanking a major cult image. It has a Khmer inscription cast in the lower reverse section, partially legible.

Foliage Relief About 1050 Khmer period An adoring celestial deity rises from the foliage. This remarkable bronze must have formed part of a large and very grand decorative surround, perhaps flanking a major cult image. Monumental bronzes are known to have been a feature of Angkorian Cambodia, and a number are mentioned in a 13thcentury Chinese description of the city.
