Object history
From a set of the Five Senses. Figure is similar to the figure of the Meissen group known as 'The German Bacchus', stated to have been the modelled by Schönheit in 1770. It seems probable that his Bacchus was based on an earlier model by Kändler from which the Bow and Plymouth figures may also have been borrowed.
