A deep, rectangular box for incense utensils, decorated with plums, camellias and chrysanthemums in a landscape with a waterfall, hills and streams in gold and silver takamaki-e ('high sprinkled picture') and hiramaki-e ('low sprinkled picture'), inlaid with imitation coral and gold on a black lacquer ground. The inside of the box and lid are decorated with floral scrolls which extend down, in gold and silver takamaki-e on a nashi-ji lacquer ground; the underside is of more sparsely sprinkled nashi-ji lacquer.
