Physical description | Set of eleven reliefs in cast bronze, including the armorial bearings of the family of Gaetani, Dukes of Sermoneta. From the mural monument of Onorato Gaetani, 6th Duke of Sermoneta, Knight of the Golden Fleece, General of the Papal Infantry, and a distinguished naval commander in the wars against the Turks. Two cartouches with masks above and below are cast in openwork wth the heraldic charge, two bends wavy; three eagels displayed, the crest of the Gaetani, and also borne by them in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of their shield; three naval trophes, consisting of the prow of a ship riding on the waves, with a sword, bow and quiver, and shield, with a Turkish flag bearing a crescent, or with a turban, arrows, and Turkish shield. |
