Physical description | Medal, silver, struck from a die; for success in agriculture. Obv. A standing figure of Ceres, surrounded by animals and subjects of rural life. Rev. A wreath enclosing an inscription. Ceres stands, wearing a wreath, grasping a staff with her left hand and holding in her right a wreath. The surrounding subjects are as follows:- A gardener planting a tree, a mare with a foal, a fisherman in a boat pulling in a net, a child carrying a hive of bees, a cow, a man reaping with a scythe, a man standing by a plough, a ram and ewe, a woman churning butter, a man standing by a vine, a stag, and a man sowing seed. Rev. FÜR LANDWIRTHSCHAFTLICHE LEISTUNGEN. The wreath is composed of leaves, fruit and corn. |
