Object history
The donor Miss Emily Georgiana Kemp (1860–1939) was a British adventurer, artist and writer. She was the author of The Face of China (1909), in which she wrote about the ‘Flowery Miao’ people she saw in Yunnan's prefectural town Zhaotong (Chaotung) and included two illustrations, one dated to 1908 (pp. 206-207).
