Panel of hemp, divided into three rectangular compartments; the one in the middle is completely covered with red and blue wools, which form a pattern of interlocking chevron bands, marked with lozenges enclosing cross-shaped devices; the ground of the side compartments is left plain, with an edging of purple wool, which is also the colour and material of the pattern, representing cross-hatching.
This piece appears to be unfinished. T.34 is a finished one.

| Object history | The donor Miss Emily Georgiana Kemp (1860–1939) was a British adventurer, artist and writer. She was the author of The Face of China (1909), in which she wrote about the ‘Flowery Miao’ people she saw in Yunnan's prefectural town Zhaotong (Chaotung) and included two illustrations, one dated to 1908 (pp. 206-207).
