Incense box and cover, stoneware, with a mottled deep brown glaze. Bowl-shaped body and shallow domed lid. On the lid, a wavy line and two dots and a band round the edge, and on the body a narrow band, are reserved in the whitish ground of the clay under a clear glaze. The remaining surface is covered with a rich dark brown glaze which in places shows signs of transmutation into a lighter brown.
