Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Photograph depicting Queen Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace, 1955. She is seen standing, three-quarter length. She makes eye-contact with the camera, although she turns slightly. She holds one hand by her side, the other rests at her waist. She is wearing a gown with narrow shoulder straps, and a dark coloured sash. Fine embroidery and small beads form some detailed flower and leaf-shapes on the fabric of the dress, while the sash is decorated with a brooch, ribbons and two miniature portraits. The miniature portraits are framed with jewels. The brooch is a star-shape emblem surrounding a cross and a circle in its centre. She wears a crown, diamond ear-clips and a triple strand pearl necklace. A painted backdrop depicts an exterior view of Windsor Castle.
