Trousers of light green silk self-patterned with a small geometric design of lattice-work and stylised shou characters formed by 3-span warp floats in diagonal alignment against a plain weave ground. The waistband and lining are are of deep pink plain weave cotton, softer and more closely woven than the pink fabric on the other garments in the set. The trousers are left open at the back and crotch. The hem of each leg is edged with three bands of trimming: two warp-patterned silk ribbons, one mauve, one blue; and a wider bias-cut trim of undecorated black plain weave cotton. The trousers and waistband are padded throughout.

Part of a set of clothes for a child consisting of a jacket, a bib, two pairs of trousers, a bonnet, a headband and a pair of shoes. They were made for the vendor by wealthy elderly Chinese ladies living next door to her parents in Jinan, and presented to them in December 1915. The clothes never worn but treasured by vendor's mother. See FE.12-1986 for a more detailed history.
