Notes on significance: Continuation of Qing type

Historical significance: From Register: Rose Kerr 23-3-1993
Glass has been made at Boshan since the end of the 17th century. Much of the so-called "Peking glass" came from Shandong. It is common to see modern glass resembling this piece sold at auction, as "Peking glass", sometimes with 18th or 19th century date, sometimes with no date but with price suggesting the piece is not contemporary. E.g. Sotheby's sale "Fine Chinese Export Porcelain, Snuff Bottles and Decorative Arts" London, 6th and 9th May 1986, lots 576, 577, 584 and Sotheby's Sale "Chinese Decorative Arts and Export Porcelain" London, 27th October and 1st November, 1989, lot 210
Production
Made in Boshan Fine Arts Glass Factory, Zibo, Shandong province, CHINA
