Vase, pear-shaped, with high flaring neck. Made of paper-thin, almost transparent "egg-shell" porcelain that is very light in weight, with greater than the usual 15-25% of kaolin. Decorated on one side with a heron (?) on lotus in water with sketchy weeds suggested. The painting is rather stiff, and the enamel colours muddy. A six-character seal-mark in red enamel on the base.

Vase, pear-shaped, with high flaring neck. Made of paper-thin, almost transparent "egg-shell" porcelain that is very light in weight, with greater than the usual 15-25% of kaolin. Bought at the Friendship Store, Jingdezhen, November 1982.

Historical significance: This body is a fairly recent development at Jingdezhen, and contains more that the 15-25% kaolin that is usual - a considerable achievement as the low relation of petuntse makes for a porcelain that is almost "boneless".
