Julian Opie has developed a unique graphic style, eliminating detail while retaining the essentials that comprise a true likeness. This series was inspired by the traditional formats of portrait miniatures and silhouettes, including the style of the frames. This pair (E.272 and E.273-2008) are from a series of 16 depicting the same couple, presented in every possible combination of front, back and side profiles.
