Mug of soft-paste porcelain, bell-shaped, with loop handle. Transfer-printed in black with a portrait of William Pitt, the Elder (1708-1778), from the mezzotint engraving by Richard Houston after the portrait by William Hoare. The print shows Pitt three-quarter face, with scrollwork below and at the sides on which is inscribed "The Right Hon. Will. Pitt Esq"; the print is signed "T. Billinge Sc."
