This silver medallion is made by Antoine Vechte in ca. 1857 in England.
The original, executed in repoussé or beaten work, by A. Vechte, of the National Medallion was destined for distribution in the yearly competition of all the Art schools in the United Kingdom.
It was given to the museum by the Science and Art Department.
The medallion depicts in the centre the crowned bust of Queen Victoria; the allegorical border around represents at the top Genius attended by Justice, Truth, Science and Fame. Below is Time holding a shield to contain the name of the successful competitor.
