Physical description | Box, with hinged lid, of wood covered with a marquetry of bone partly stained green and various woods. On the raised centre of the lid is a zig-zag band representing a twisted ribbon which surrounds a plain panel and on the edge a border of designs each composed of rossettes between chevrons; round the box runs a band of 'ragulée' ornament between horizontal lines. The inside is lined with paper, with a pattern of red and blue lines crossed. The box has a heavy projecting top and base. |
