This silver medal commemorates the inauguration of the French National School of Industrial Arts in Roubaix. The obverse depicts a female figure representing the weaving industry standing before a boy who draws from a flower held by her; at his feet a palette and in the background a view of the School of Industrial Arts at Roubaix. An inscription on the reverse commemorates the foundation of the school by the Government of Roubaix on 1st October 1890 and shows a winged youth holding a branch of olive and supporting a shield of the arms of the town.

The obverse depicts a female figure representing the weaving industry standing befoore a boy who draws from a flower held by her; at his feet a palette and in the background a view of the School of Industrial Arts at Roubaix, and below the inscription FERDD DUTERT ARCHITECTE. Rev.: ÉCOLE NATIONALE DES ARTS INDUSTRIELS FONDÉE. PAR. LE GOUVERNEMENT DE. ROUBAIX INAUGURÉE LE. 1ER OCTOBRE 1890. A winged youth holding a branch of olive and supporting a shield of the arms of the town.
