Bedding cover (futonji made of hand spun plain weave cotton and consisting of four loom widths seamed together vertically. The seams are sewn with blue cotton.
The design in blue, black and white consists of stylised paulownia motifs against a scrolling ground. The paste resist and stencil method was used to produce the pattern, the cloth probably being immersed in the dye vat to obtain the blue colour, while the black may have been brushed on.
