Teapot and lid, of buff-white stoneware with clear, crackled glaze. Decorated on one side with a hat with long cords, and on the other with stylised leaves of the wild ginger plant (Aio) associated with the Tokugawa family. On the lid is a riding crop with long tasselled cords running down on to the teapot. Scroll motif in gilding on handle. The knob is gilded.

Physical description
Teapot and lid, of buff-white stoneware with clear, crackled glaze. Decorated on one side with a hat with long cords, and on the other with stylised leaves of the wild ginger plant (Aio) associated with the Tokugawa family. On the lid is a riding crop with long tasselled cords running down on to the teapot. Scroll motif in gilding on handle. The knob is gilded.
