The small flecks in the wood, which are distinctive of walnut can be seen; there are also faint traces of painted colour. This group imitates sculpture of the fifteenth century, but is probably a nineteenth century fake.

Physical description
Group of the Virgin and Child, carved walnut, with slight traces of colour. The child, holding an open book, is supported on the left arm of the Virgin, who bore in her right hand a lily (now missing). The whole rests on a rectangular moulded pedestal.
