Medal, commemorating the visit to London of Princess Alexandra of Denmark, later Princess of Wales, in 1863.
Physical description
medal, bronze, struck from a die, commemorating the public entry into the City of London of Princess Alexandra of Denmark, afterwards Princess of Wales, 7th March 1863. Obv.: ALEXANDRA. Head to left. Rev.: WELCOME ALEXANDRA MAR. 1863. The Princess lead by the Prince of Wales and attended by Hymen is welcomed by a female figure representing the City of London, accompanied by Peace and Plenty; the latter offers a diamond necklace and earrings. In the background the triumphal arch erected at London Bridge. In the exergue, the shield of arms of the City of London.
