Plaque of blue jasper-dip with a white bust relief of Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France. In profile facing left. Oval in shape and in a gilt metal frame. Inscribed below with ‘Q. OF FRANCE’. On the truncation is the signature ‘I.B.NINI F. 1777’.

Object history note

After the terra-cotta relief by Jean-Baptiste Nini (1717-1786). The frame is of a later date. Bought in Paris in May 1877.
