'...arched, as designed in said uprights these windows of the house, though they are inconvenient yett it is of no great consequence in offices where there will be neither silk window curtains not Damask bedds and by this means the style of buildings is preserved - The walls are a brick ½ thick, but if it is proposed that the lower offices should be arched they must be more - The roof should be divided into small Ms or Hoppers with Gutters running from the parapett walls in front and emptying west into the garden or by pipes into Cesterns, These sort of roofs are something more expensive than pitch roofs and require a little more care but a pitch roof will not be at all proper - To conclude, as to the additional building in general, by this designe the regular front of the house is not broak upon, by the addition of the north wing, which is the case in the other designes where the new building is brought forward equal to the front but in this by setting it back 4 or five feet the Qoin or angle of the main front is preferred and the addition to the house being shallow will not much alter the aspect but then again the back or garden front will be vastly prolonged northward in a dead straight line to near the whole length of the kitchen garden walls, which however may be covered in some degree, by planting high trees or a high espalier at right angles with the North west corner of the house, continued to the little copice or Grove where the house of office is placed and as the back of these offices are also the fruit garden walls, pairs cherries and such like free fruit may be planted against it with great advantage for the rest the building has no sort of taste nor particularity it is a little in character with the house and that's all but it may be convenient for the purpose, admitts the yeard [...?] to be free & spatious will not appear too good for the house and must be of the least expense for so much - Arthur coppy these papers in a fair hand but write so small as to bring all in one sheet if possible.'
