Physical description

Bottle of porcelain, partly covered with a greyish-green glaze. A "waster" from the kiln, with particles of fused clay adhering to the sides. It has a bulbous body with two rows of fluting, expanding mouth, two small loop handles.

Object history note

Found near kiln site. Made not later than the 15th century and perhaps as early as the reign of Phra Ruang in the 13th century. Bought in a set (Nos. 479 - 521, £220)

Labels and date

Bottle of porcelain, partly covered with a greyish-celadon glaze. A "waster" from the kiln, with particles of fused clay adhering to the sides. Found near the site of the ancient potteries at Sawankalok. Made not later than the 15th century and perhaps as early as the reign of Phra Ruang in the 13th century. SIAMESE. H. 2 3/8 in., diam. 2 1/2 in. Bought (Nos. 479 - 521, £220). 497-1906. Bulbous body with two rows of fluting, expanding mouth, two small loop handles. []
