Physical description

Plaque of blue jasperware with white relief decoration of the Sacrifice to Hymen, oval in shape and in a gilt metal frame. To the left of the altar are winged boys holding a trumpet and a torch, and to the right are two others leading a goat and carrying an olive-branch.

Object history note

Companion piece to 414:1279-1885 (Sch. II 490). Gilt metal frame is of a later date. Modelled by Flaxman after a design by Cipriani engraved by Bartolozzi.
