These silvered copper medals depict Joan of Arc. An inscription on the obverse states 'Before the battle' and shows her as an equestrian armed figure with her hands clasped in prayer, with a castle in the background. On the reverse there are branches of palm, laurel and lilies bound together with the inscription, 'To the unending glory of Joan of Arc, the Heroic and Martyred Virgin, the angel of the French nation.' The obverse and reverse sides of the medal were executed separately using a process of electro-deposit.
