This silver medal depicts Pope Leo XIII wearing a cope. Leo XIII was Pope from 1878 to 1903 and is known for intellectualism, the development of social teachings and attempts to define the position of the Catholic church in relation to modern thinking. On the reverse a lion is shown standing on the globe and trampling on serpents with the holy dove flying above. The medal is signed with the mongram and name of the maker, Marcelle Lancelot-Croce.
