Eric Fischl (born 1948) taught painting at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in 1974, and made this print there the following year. Fischl is best know as a painter of suburban scenes and subjects. In his early work there is a recurrent theme of sexuality and voyeurism. This is a very painterly image, at first sight an abstract form but in fact a life-size image of a coat sleeve.
