Plate of earthenware transfer-printed in black enamel and painted over the glaze. With a wavy edge, and in the middle is a ship in full sail flying the Dutch flag. The flag is painted in proper colours, the ship in brown, green and yellow, and the sea is green. Above is the inscription 'CORNEELIS VASSE' and below with 'MARIA & ADRIANA'. On the rim are detached sprays of flowers and the inscription 'WELVAREN 1779'.
