This vase was shown as "Vase en cristal rose" on the Froment-Maurice stand at the Paris 1889 Exhibition. Designed by Emile Gallé, the glass was etched by M.A. Hotin. The silver-gilt mount, chased by M. Messager, was made by Emile Froment-Meurice, son of the firm's founder, François-Désiré. The vase was subsequently marked on the underside and sold by the retailer Escalier de Cristal, Palais Royal. The delicacy of Gallé's naturalism is somewhat overlaid by Froment-Meurice's exuberant rococo style.(1987-2006) |
