Place of origin |
Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in surface darning backed with plain weave glazed cotton and faced with woven silk.
The almost square embroidery is pieced in places and has been reduced in size. The darning on the green ground is uneven. In the centre of the green ground is a large 8-pointed star of golden brown containing a smaller light red 8-pointed star, each point being a trefoil. In the centre is a large rosette in shades of yellow with pink, green and light blue. A straight diagonal stem links the golden brown star to each corner; it bears a blue, light red and yellow flower. Similar flowers and curving leaves decorate the green ground and pale grey flowers are placed around the star; half way over it and half way over the green.
Backing: tightly woven purple cotton; glazed.
Facing bias cit striped silk: narrow white stripes edged with red alternate with chevron stripes in red and white and dark green and white.
There is a plain weave cotton interlining.
